What is life like as a Generation Kenya student?

Boot camp style Instruction

The learners are taken through a rigorous boot-champ training session covering various topics.

The learners interact with the content, and the curriculum is mostly practical in nature to encourage experiential training, which has a variety of sessions, i.e., technical sessions, Behavioural Skills & Mindsets, Social application skills, Employment Essentials, social support, community, reflection, and reinforcement sessions. The learners experience both synchronous, which is an in-person session, and asynchronous training sessions, which are done through our LMS portal known as Canvas. these two modes of training make the learning experience interesting and provide convenient interaction with the content. They are allocated sprint days, which are very interesting as the learners have ample time to engage in practical exercises, case studies, and role plays to apply their gained knowledge.

Learner Support

Learners have constant access to their instructors and plenty of learning resources for learning.

Learning centers have access to the internet and laptops, enabling learners to find information easily, practice, revise, and respond to assignments. Learners also select a class administrator who ensures that they can easily channel their issues and get immediate feedback from the learner support success support team. Learners also have access to mentors who continually guide them and offer support until they transition to work and start earning. Learners are encouraged to engage in one-on-one or group discussions with mentors to seek guidance on online career development, project management, or portfolio building. To ensure well-being and support, learners can access a toll-free psychosocial support phone number when in need. Learners have scheduled breaks to relax, for recreation, and maintain work-life balance.

Community

Learners start building professional relationships from day one.

Generation Kenya offers a great and Ideal atmosphere for long-term professional relationships that extend all the way to the workplace and thrive. Generation Kenya strongly believes in communities that support learners and alumni to be the best of themselves and find supportive ground to bounce back when they face uncertainties. Learners have the freedom to elect their class administrators, propose fun and engaging activities in a class, go for team-building activities, discover their hidden talents, and face their fears through fireside chat gatherings and games. Learners graduate to join an alumni community that is responsive and follows them to the workplace and constantly check-ins and organizes alumni events for re-reconnecting alumni bonds.
