The Struggle

As the firstborn in a large family, Quinter faced pressure to provide for her siblings while also raising her child as a single mother. She had worked in various fields as an administrator, a waitress, and an M-Pesa service provider to try to earn a living. Additionally, financial struggles forced her to drop out of campus. “Life was not easy,” she recalls.

Breaking Barriers and Finding Purpose

Quinter had faced scarcity in her gigz before joining the program. Her biggest obstacles? “Lack of advanced education, no proper skills learned, and discrimination,” she says. These barriers made it difficult for her to secure stable employment.

She heard about Generation Kenya through a friend, and she decided to join the financial sales services. The program provided her with a fresh perspective. She was most excited about sales management, teamwork, stress management, planning, customer relationships, consistency, persistence, and confidence. “These topics have made me a good sales officer and team manager in my company,” she says proudly.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Growth

After completing the program, Quinter secured a role as a Financial Sales Advisor at Premier Credit Limited. Today, she has risen to the position of Team Manager, a role she has held for the past four years.

She applies the skills she learned daily: “Sales management, teamwork, consistency, persistence, honesty, feedback, and planning,” she lists. These skills have not only propelled her career forward but have also given her the ability to train and mentor others.

Changing Lives Beyond Her Own

The program’s impact extends far beyond her. “If you thought you only changed my life, trust me, you changed the whole community,” she says. “I can’t count how many people I have helped through my career.”

With her earnings, she has been able to provide for her siblings, improve her parents’ lifestyle, and further her education. 

Reflecting on her journey, she expresses deep gratitude. “I can never forget where all I am today has come from. My family and I appreciate this good course. I intend to advise youths to join these courses every day. Every second inside Generation Kenya is a dollar earned forever.”
